Cremation in France: why it matters for your dog
In France, where only about 44.91%[1] of people are cremated, pet crematories can be further apart than in high-cremation areas. That can mean a longer wait for the ashes or a mileage charge for collection. It doesn't mean worse care. Ask your vet which crematory they work with, how far away it is and whether they collect on set days, so you know what to expect before you agree.
ICI (France Bleu), citing the Fédération française de crémation (2023) is where the France figure comes from. It counts people; we use it because attitudes to cremating a pet in Grenoble tend to follow attitudes to cremation generally.

Renters and homeowners in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes face different questions. If you rent, your lease and landlord decide whether anything can be buried in the yard, and the answer is usually no. If you own, local ordinances and any homeowners' association or building rules sit on top of what Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes allows.
