The local attitude to cremation
In England, with cremation chosen for around 83.0%[3] of people, pet crematories often compete on service rather than basics. You might be offered a farewell room, same-week return or a range of containers. Take what helps and skip what doesn't. The core promise to confirm is simple: your dog is cremated individually, carries an ID tag from pickup to return, and you're given a date when the ashes will be ready.
The England figure comes from Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA) death & cremation statistics (2024). It describes people, not pets, so read it as a sign of local attitudes rather than a pet statistic.
Kensington weather and timing
Weather matters most in the first day. You don't need a permit to have your dog cremated, but what you do afterwards, burying them at home or scattering their ashes in a park, can be governed by local rules. Here's what applies in England.
In the UK, the Competition and Markets Authority has pushed vets to show cremation prices and offer a communal option, so it's reasonable to ask for a price list. You can also contact an independent pet crematorium directly; many publish prices online and collect from home.
