Local habits matter in small ways. Where about 83.0%[3] of people are cremated, as in England, relatives are less likely to raise an eyebrow at an urn on the mantelpiece and more likely to have one themselves. What's allowed in England after your dog dies
Renters and homeowners in England face different questions. If you rent, your lease and landlord decide whether anything can be buried in the yard, and the answer is usually no. If you own, local ordinances and any homeowners' association or building rules sit on top of what England allows. Cremation needs nobody's permission, and the ashes can go wherever you move next.
In the UK, the Competition and Markets Authority has pushed vets to show cremation prices and offer a communal option, so it's reasonable to ask for a price list. You can also contact an independent pet crematorium directly; many publish prices online and collect from home.
