Local habits matter in small ways. Where about 72.5%[3] of people are cremated, as in Florida, relatives are less likely to raise an eyebrow at an urn on the mantelpiece and more likely to have one themselves. Before you bury or scatter in Florida
Rules in Florida also cover a few situations people rarely think about until they happen: a dog who bit someone shortly before dying, which in some places means rabies testing, or a dog who died on someone else's land. These are uncommon, and your vet will tell you if one applies. For the usual case, a dog who died of age or illness, only burial and scattering bring rules into play.
