Copenhagen's weather is mild but grey and wet much of the year, and winter days are short. That gives you a little breathing room, since a pet kept in a cool room will stay stable for a day while you decide. In the warmer weeks of July and August, move faster and keep the body out of sunny rooms and away from radiators.

Cremation is the norm in Denmark: about 86.48%[1] of people who die there are cremated. That familiarity carries over to pets. Most people here already know what a private cremation is, local crematories are well established and families rarely feel they have to explain why they want their dog's ashes home.

What rules in Capital Region mostly cover is what happens next: where a dog can be buried and where ashes can be scattered. In Denmark, vets usually arrange cremation through a pet crematorium, with a choice between collective cremation and individual cremation with the ashes returned. Yes. Most pet crematories and many vets in and around Copenhagen offer home collection, sometimes out of hours for an extra fee. Tell them your dog's approximate weight, whether there are stairs or a lift, and the best time to come, so they can send the right number of people.
