Lower cremation rates (around 44.91%[1] in France) often go with more land per household, and that changes the practical picture for dogs. A grave on your own property may be easy here. Before you dig, think about who will look after the spot if the land is sold or passed on, and whether digging a big dog's grave by hand is realistic. Burying an urn is a far lighter task.

Before you bury or scatter in Ile-de-France
It helps to separate two sets of rules in Ile-de-France: those for a whole body and those for ashes. Burying a dog's body usually comes with conditions on where and how, mainly to protect groundwater and wells.
