Before you bury or scatter in Sweden
Renters and homeowners in Sweden face different questions. If you rent, your lease and landlord decide whether anything can be buried in the yard, and the answer is usually no. If you own, local ordinances and any homeowners' association or building rules sit on top of what Sweden allows. Cremation needs nobody's permission, and the ashes can go wherever you move next.

The first 48 hours, step by step
- If your dog dies while you're away from home, find the nearest vet or emergency clinic first. They can confirm the death and hold your dog while you decide.
- Decide whether to bring your dog home or cremate where you are. A cremation nearby, with the ashes posted home afterwards, is usually simpler than driving a long way with your dog.
- If you drive your dog home, run the air conditioning, put a blanket under your dog and, if it's warm, don't stop for long.
